Install GPS BU-353 with GPSNavX / MacENC

You have to follow the steps below, in order :

1) Quit GPSNavX or MacENC before proceed.
2) Installez the driver Prolific PL2303.

3) Connect the antenna BU-353 USB GPS to a USB port on your Mac.
4) Start GPSNavX or MacENC, select the menu « GPS > Connect ». Open the drawer « Settings », then select :
- Type : « USB SiRF »
- Port : « usbserial »
- Rate : « 4800″

1) Quit GPSNavX or MacENC before proceed.

2) Install the last driver Prolific PL2303 you can download. Do not use the CD-Rom, rarely updated.

3) Connect the antenna BU-353 USB GPS to a USB port on your Mac.

4) Start GPSNavX or MacENC, select the menu « GPS > Connect« . Open the drawer « Settings »

and select :

  • Type : «SiRF USB»
  • Port : «Usbserial»
  • Rate : «4800»

NB. : The red LED GPS BU-353 passes for fixed (research satellites) flashing when the position is fixed.

If the port « usbserial » invalid :

  1. Quit GPSNavX or MacENC.
  2. Check presence of file 'ProlificUSBSerial.kext "In the Macintosh HD / System / Library / Extensions. If so, disconnect the BU-353 USB GPS and delete the file "ProlificUSBSerial.kext ".
  3. Repeat step 2) above.

IMPORTANT : it is imperative that the BU-353 USB GPS be connected to the Mac BEFORE launching MacENC or GPSNavX.
