Receiving GRIB files with GPSNavX MacENC

Some GPSNavX or MacENC users encounter difficulties in receiving GRIB weather files, after running a query directly from the Weather > Request GRIB application menu. Here's what to do to make it work :
First check that the email software Mail OS X has at least one email account that can send and receive (POP or IMAP and SMTP correctly set up).
The first account in Mail menu « Preferences > Accounts » is used for GRIB files request. If you have registered multiple accounts, they can be moved with the mouse in the Preferences to change their order.

Then check that the email sent by the server Saildocs does not land in the "Junk" folder.
Finally, check that the email account is not blocked in the Keychain by following these steps :

  • Launch Keychain from the Applications / Utilities.
  • In the search field top right, Enter email address to find the password.
  • Right click on the line opens the context menu
  • Select « Get Info »
  • Select the tab « Access Control »
  • Check « Allow access to this item by all applications »
  • Save changes
  • Restart MacENC or GPSNavX.

Warning : In their anti-spam war, Some email providers have developed a scoring system to reject automatic mail headers to their servers input. This is particularly the case of Free Telecom. This may explain that requests are working well, but GRIB files never succeed in your inbox. The only solution is to create an account with another provider.
