Install GPS BU-353 with GPSNavX / MacENC

The BU-353 GPS connected to the MacBook via USB

You have to follow the steps below, in order :

1) Quit GPSNavX or MacENC before proceed.
2) Installez the driver Prolific PL2303.

3) Connect the antenna BU-353 USB GPS to a USB port on your Mac.
4) Start GPSNavX or MacENC, select the menu “GPS > Connect”. Open the drawer “Settings”, then select :
– Type : “USB SiRF”
– Port : “usbserial”
– Rate : “4800”

1) Quit GPSNavX or MacENC before proceed.

2) Install the last driver Prolific PL2303 you can download. Do not use the CD-Rom, rarely updated.

3) Connect the antenna BU-353 USB GPS to a USB port on your Mac.

4) Start GPSNavX or MacENC, select the menu “GPS > Connect“. Open the drawer “Settings

configuration MacENCand select :

  • Type : « SiRF USB »
  • Port : « usbserial »
  • Rate : " 4800 »

NB. : The red LED GPS BU-353 passes for fixed (research satellites) flashing when the position is fixed.

If the port “usbserial” invalid :

  1. Quit GPSNavX or MacENC.
  2. Verify the presence of the file " ProlificUSBSerial.kext "In Macintosh HD / System / Library / Extensions. If so, disconnect the BU-353 USB GPS and delete the file " ProlificUSBSerial.kext ».
  3. Repeat step 2) above.

IMPORTANT : it is imperative that the BU-353 USB GPS be connected to the Mac BEFORE launching MacENC or GPSNavX.
